What oral surgery covers
Oral surgery covers the procedures carried out on the bone and tissues of the mouth: complex extractions, wisdom teeth, frenectomies and the surgeries that come before an implant, such as bone grafts or sinus lifts.
All of them are planned digitally beforehand. The 3D X-ray shows the volume of bone and the real position of the roots and neighbouring structures, and that is what makes it possible to work with less invasion and fewer surprises.
Wisdom teeth: which come out and which do not
Not every wisdom tooth needs removing. Only those causing problems or posing a risk: decay that cannot be treated because of its position, repeated infections in the gum covering it, or a position that is damaging the tooth next to it.
A well-positioned, clean, symptom-free wisdom tooth can be monitored. What decides is the 3D CT together with the examination, and in the consultation we show you the image so you can see where the recommendation comes from.
What the procedure is like
Surgery is carried out under local anaesthesia and, when the case or your anxiety level calls for it, adding sedation is assessed with you beforehand. Prior planning and the surgical guide shorten the time in the chair.
To prepare the appointment properly, tell us when you book if you take anticoagulants or other medication and whether you have any relevant condition: it changes how the day is planned.

Recovery: what to expect in the first days
After an extraction, swelling and discomfort that build over the first forty-eight hours and then ease is the norm. We give you written guidance for the first hours and the following days, because that is when most questions come up.
When the stitches come out depends on the type of suture and how the area heals: we give you the date at the procedure itself and confirm it at the review. If something is not going as expected — bleeding that will not stop, pain increasing on the third or fourth day, fever — we would rather you called than waited for the appointment.
